“We will work for the rights of workers and peasants, adequate government funding for health care and education, and greater participation of unions, NGOs, and POs in all levels of government.”

Hermogenes Ebdane--anti-Farmer turned protector? Crap

Hermogenes Ebdane--anti-Farmer turned protector? Crap

Such are the brave words of former DPWH secretary now presidential candidate Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. that some people, particularly the gullible ones, are believing in him. Ebdane, who caused the disruption of many aspects of our political lives, is threatening to run as president. He failed in his mission to disrupt the Lakas convention. However, Ebdane now decides to run under the Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka (PMM), which, he says, is a non-traditional political party.

For all his life, Ebdane has neither  fought for workers nor peasants rights–in fact, he fought against them. When he was a lieutenant, he fought against those who want equity in the distribution of wealth. When he became defense secretary, Ebdane spearheaded the destruction of peasant’s property and the annihilation of their way of life.

Now, at the eve of his life, Ebdane Jr. now claims or wants to position himself as the champion of worker’s and peasants’ rights. Maybe he wants to get everything back to the same people whom he deprived of opportunities? Or maybe Ebdane had an epiphany and like Saint Paul, now wants to spearhead the cause of the People?

We may not know what motivated Ebdane to run, possibly he thought of running to disrupt Lakas and to whittle Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro’s chances of clinching the presidency. Will he succeed? God knows Hudas not pay.
