Will Floyd beat the Pacman?

Will Floyd beat the Pacman?

Floyd Mayweather Jr. thinks that he can defeat Manny Pacquiao anytime, anywhere.   ” He has been beaten thrice before,” says the former pound-for-pound boxer in the world about the Pacman.” …and I’m not.”

“Can Pacquiao beat me? Absolutely not.” brags Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather Jr. who just defeated Juan Manuel Marquez, says that he’s stronger and better than the seven-time world champion Manny Pacquiao. Known as an expert defensive fighter, Mayweather thinks that no one, not even the Pacman, can defeat him in the ring.

Mayweather has had his glorious moments in the ring. He defeated the Golden Boy. He defeated Marquez. He defeated almost everybody in his weight class. He’s a five division champ and has not been defeated. He has not, however, tasted how strong a Pacman punch is or how fast that fist hits his face.

manny_pacquiaoAnd boxing promoter Bob Arum, Mayweather’s former promoter, thinks Floyd needs to. As for the Pacman, he also wants Mayweather’s head. For now, however, Arum and the Pacman need to wait. Mayweather does not want his head and face bashed like what Pacquiao did to Miguel Cotto.

Pacquiao is gunning for glory, not money. Mayweather, well, is gunning for money. He hides under his father’s boxing shorts. He uses his mouth to shield him from the powerful Pacman punch.

Boxing analyst Ivan Calderon however, thinks otherwise. Even Thomasz Adamek. They both think that Pacquiao’s quickness and strength is no match for Mayweather’s intelligence. Mayweather, they say, is an intelligent boxer.

Analysts say Pacquiao might not have the stamina to compete at 147 pounds, a division Mayweather Jr has dominated for years. Pacquiao however has proven that he’s the man to beat even at 147. He dominated Cotto. He demolished Hatton. And going to the distance with Cotto, fighting him toe-to-toe, showed the strength and stamina of the Pacman.

And if they think that the Pacman is not intelligent enough for Mayweather Jr., think again. In Pacman’s fight with Cotto, the Filipino champ deviated from the original fight plan and won. Pacquiao is already a master tactician in the ring. And Mayweather Sr. knows this. That’s why they are afraid that his son might get trapped and stung by the Pacman punch.

I say to Mayweather–forget the money, go after the glory. Fighting Pacquiao now will cement your place in boxing history. Think about it–no other welterweight has defeated the Pacman. After going in the ring with Pacman, they all retired.

The question really is—is Mayweather ready to retire? Let the Mouth do the defense.
