andalampatuanjrThe arrest and detention of mass murderer Andal Ampatuan Jr. is a potential political powerkeg.

First, the Ampatuans are now serious threats to the stability and sustainability of this administration. Anytime, the elder Ampatuan can actually go public and expose how they committed fraud during the 2004 elections.

The Ampatuans can do it at the Senate since Vice Presidential candidate Mar Roxas said that the Senate will investigate the gruesome massacre once session opens in December 9.

Yet,what the elder Ampatuan failed to realise is this—the government is holding his son Andal Ampatuan, hostage. Anytime, an assassin can sneak in at the NBI and kill the younger Ampatuan. Remember that the NBI is really not a very secured facility. Before, months prior to the fall of the Estrada regime, several NBI agents were killed right inside the NBI office.

andalampatuanKilling Andal a remote possibility? Nope. The government can very well use their assets to kill the junior Andal. As everyone knows, the lives of those who hold many state secrets do not last. And this Administration has its hands full neutralizing potential state witnesses and whistleblowers.

Andal Junior, right now, serves as Mrs. Arroyo’s surety bond—if the elder Ampatuan thinks he can just go to the Opposition and offer them an irresistible one such as Hello Garci documents and testimonies, think again. Andal Ampatuan Jr. is now a hostage of this administration. If the elder balks, I would not be surprised if Junior lives.

That’s why reports such as Andal’s life in danger or the PNP beefing its security over threats or reports against the mass murderer’s life are being floated, just for the elder Ampatuan’s personal consumption.

We all know that the NBI is not a place for high profile personalities with blood debts. Killings had happened before right inside the NBI. And the possibility is not entirely remote. An untoward incident against the younger Andal will either lead to the end of this regime OR if the government hawks are ready for it, an opportunity for this administration to declare a state of emergency, even, martial rule.

Second, should anything bad happens to the NBI’s most high profile mass murderer of the century, then, it will surely trigger not just violence in Mindanao but it would also place the entire Metro Manila under a State of Emergency. This scenario, I think, will happen very soon. And Norberto Gonzales is just waiting in the wing, salivating for this to happen.

How opportunity presents itself to the brave and the reckless.
