Senator Noynoy Aquino is being accused by Cong. Crispin Remulla of profitting from the sale of overpriced sugar lands. The alleged scam involves the SCTEX or the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway. Reportedly, the Senator entered into a collusive deal with his relatives, the Cojuangcos, in selling a part of 6,400 hectares of Hacienda Luisita land.
The deal, which Remulla describes as a “sweatheat deal” involves the sale of sugar lands for 100 pesos per square meter. The going rate for any agricultural land is between 6 to 8 pesos per square meter.
Government, says Remulla, bought 83 hectares, which means that the Cojuangcos and the Arroyos profitted 83 million pesos for right-of-way and 170 million to build a road interchange in the middle of Concepcion and San Miguel in Tarlac province.
The deal, says Remulla, was finalized during the time when Aquino and Arroyo were still political allies.
