After twenty five years in the air, the world’s most popular and by far, the richest celebrity in history will end her show “The Oprah Winfrey” in September 2011. But it seems that the popular talk show host is not about to retire entirely, no.
Oprah’s Harpo productions is formalizing with Discovery Communications for a possible partnership. Oprah is launching her own channel, OWN, and this will take place by January 2011. The launch is expected to hit 88 million homes instantaneously.
Discovery CEO David Zaslav said that the Oprah show will definitely stop syndicating its shows over at ABC and instead, probably air it at OWN. Zaslav said Oprah will definitely appear in OWN with her own show, possibly a new Oprah Winfrey show.
The Oprah Winfrey show is one of the most watched shows on earth. It is aired in 142 countries and watched by an estimated 42 million viewers a week–only in the United States.
