The braggart, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is probably frothing in the mouth when he reads this.
According to initial reports, the Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight was the biggest and most watched event in television history this year. The fight grossed more than US$ 82.4 million in Pay-Per-View (PPV) sales, with tickets sold to 15,470 people and grossed about US$ 8.84 million, compared to the measly 12,000 tickets in the Mayweather Jr. vs. Marquez fight. USA today reported that the Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight even surpassed the UFC in the PPV category, with an estimated 1.5 million subscribers. These figures, however, are still not the final ones. PPV sales in Washington, California and Baltimore have not been reported as yet.
Talks are rife that the Floyd Mayweather camp has allowed their promoter to open talks with Top Rank. If all goes well, the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao would probably be in March.
