Mayon Volcano---the lady is expected to erupt anytime soon
The provincial government of Albay has ordered the forced evacuation of 100,000 residents living within and near Mayon Volcano. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or Philvocs say that more than 1,900 earthquakes have been reported and sulfur dioxide emissions have been reported to have reached 6,000 tons per day. Red hot lava has also been reported, flowing down the slopes of Mayon.
More than 100,000 residents have been evacuated after the Philvocs raised the alert level to four—meaning, the volcano is expected to erupt anytime soon.
Anyone is barred from entering the 8-kilometer danger zone set in the southern sector of the volcano and 7-kilometer set in the northern sector of the volcano. Philvocs expects Mayon to erupt just like what it did in 2000 and 2001.
