For someone as honest and as dedicated as Nicanor Perlas, it seems totally unfair that someone like me says something as politically incorrect as ” Nicanor Perlas–the dreamer who is chasing the wrong dream“. I mean, come on. People have all the right to dream. And telling them that they’re chasing a wrong one, seemed uncalled for.
Call it whatever but I believe that Perlas should stay where he is most useful—in the Green movement. There are still so many things that we need to do there. And aspiring for something as dirty as the presidency is not for a gentle creature like Nick.
For example, how will Nick approach the problem of contending forces? How will Nick solve a problem like Mindanao or how will he confront the insurgents? By telling them to plant trees or offering them the olive branch of peace?
If China suddenly invades us due to US secret bases in Mindanao or a small tyrant such as North Korea suddenly launch a missile with a nuclear war-head, will Nick just tell them to scamper off somewhere and just fix their drainage systems clogged with waste?
Nick might be chasing the wrong dream and as one of those who admire him for his honesty, integrity and his no-nonsense politics, better to tell him to do just that.
However, there’s a clincher here.
Comelec just disqualified Perlas as a presidential candidate under highly suspicious and highly contentious grounds. Perlas should not relent and question this before the Highest Tribunal of the Land. It would be a disservice if Perlas will just discontinue his fight.
Nick, please continue the fight.

I believe this is not his dream that he is pursuing but our dream as a Filipino people and he is just leading the way for us to realize it. He must continue the fight for by his fight we will realize that we can really make this country better.

hi ricky!
Perlas, being a green candidate means so much more than only the value for environment. and i do suggest that you look into Perlas’ qualifications and track record in the economy, education, agriculture, peace process and so much then make a final conclusion that Perlas knows more than just planting trees, offering olive branches of peace and fixing drainage systems.
And I do not think the Presidency per se is “dirty”, it is what the traditional politicians have made out of the position that made it dirty. Aspiring to change the helm of the executive branch is not a wrong dream. And who are we to say that it is wrong to dream to change it? Isn’t that every Filipino’s dream? We should be thankful that a certain Perlas is not only dreaming but making this a reality.
Thanks!
