Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella on Monday said President Duterte gave himself three days to decide whether he will fire Presidential Communications and Operations Ofiice (PCOO), Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson or not.
Duterte’s comment came after several of his media advisers urged him to end Uson’s service after the singer/dancer still perform in casinos.
A media senior adviser who refused to be identified because of possible conflict of interest, said that Mocha Uson is only making things worse after a series of her mistakes, both inside and outside her office.
“Uson is not qualified to be in the position and the President knew it even before. But what can we do? Our President is fond of paying debt of gratitude. That’s why we have Mocha Uson, the wrong person in the wrong place at the wrong time”, the adviser said.
On his part, Abella assured the public that the President will decide fairly on Uson’s performing issues.
“The President knows what he is doing. We don’t know what is in his mind about Ms. Uson, but I can assure the public that he will give a fair decision”, Abella said.
Uson has been a subject of Duterte’s critics, calling the dancer-singer “incompetent”.
Even veteran journalist and radio station manager Mike Enriquez called Uson “Miss Giling” in one of his broadcasts. Likewise, PCOO secretary Martin Andanar has been pummeled by both the media and netizens for Uson’s “irresponsible mistakes”. /Joy Valle/
